Workshop report: Methodological challenges in diagnostic test evaluation for R&D and healthcare reimbursement

The NIHR DEC Leeds and Canadian PACEOMICS project team  held a workshop on “Methodological challenges in diagnostic test evaluation for R&D and healthcare reimbursement” in October 2015.

The workshop brought together health economists and related methodologists to discuss issues in test evaluation for R&D and healthcare reimbursement.

Save the date: Diagnostic Evidence Workshop 1-2 October 2015 Worcester College, Oxford
The NIHR Diagnostic Evidence Co-operative (DEC) Oxford 2-day course on diagnostic test development, evaluation and regulation.
 
This course is aimed at all professionals working on diagnostic tests including people working in industry, academia, funding and regulation. During these two days, we will provide you with the latest information on what evidence is needed to obtain regulatory approval, how NICE evaluates new diagnostic technology and how to collect evidence to support adoption in routine clinical practice.
In addition, we will teach you about different study designs including quality assessment, and where to look for funding opportunities.
The course combines talks with hands-on activities. To stimulate interactive discussions and maximise the learning experience, the number of places for this course are limited to 25 spaces.

The long-term care revolution national challenge, an SBRI competition run by Innovate UK, is now open for registration. 

The aim of this competition to stimulate the development of innovative new products, services and systems that disrupt the current long-term care model, have a clear and viable route to market as well as the potential to be commercialised at scale. The EME Programme is now accepting applications to its researcher-led workstream. 
Deadline for applications is 1pm on 1 July 2015.

The 4th annual UK Diagnostics Forum 2015 will be held on 19th and 20th May 2015 at St Hugh’s College, Oxford.

Organised by the NIHR Diagnostic Evidence Co-operative Oxford, in collaboration with NICE, Innovate UK and the British In Vitro Diagnostics Association (BIVDA), this is a meeting of industry, academia and healthcare developing ways to facilitate the utilisation and adoption of innovative tests through good quality evidence.

Registration for this event will be live at 12pm on Tuesday 17th February via: http://www.oxford.dec.nihr.ac.uk/courses-and-events/4th-uk-diagnostics-forum, but there are limited spaces so be sure to book early to confirm your place.
